  OVERVIEW

ROTAX MAX is more than just a karting class based around a spec engine, it is the embodiment of a return to the art of racing. In a sport that has always been a combination of science and art, these sealed engines have minimized the role of science by combining maximum performance with 50 hours of running. Support this technology with a worldwide program of regional, national and world championships and you have The ROTAX MAX Challenge.

Concept

In 2000 the ROTAX Kart Center started to organise a worldwide series of kart races called ‘ROTAX MAX Challenge’ (RMC).

The ROTAX MAX Challenge is the fastest growing kart raceclass in the world and is now organised by our authorized distributors as a national competition in 32 countries on all continents: Australia; Austria; Belgium; Canada; Columbia; Cyprus; Denmark; Finland; France; Germany; Great Britain; Greece, Iceland; Ireland; Italy; Japan; Malaysia-Thailand; Netherlands; New Zealand, Norway, Portugal; Puerto Rico; South Africa; Southern Sweden; Switzerland; Spain, UAE and USA.

The engine used is the FR 125 MAX (FR 125 Junior for the Junior MAX Challenge) with strictly no modifications allowed. Please find details in the enclosed ROTAX ‘FR 125 MAX Challenge Regulations’ and the ‘Technical Specification of engine FR 125 MAX’. The chassis type must be sanctioned by the ROTAX distributor and/or ROTAX Kart Center, the only tires allowed are specified in the rules.

The best 2 drivers (at least 1 driver of each country must be +35 years old) of each national ROTAX MAX Challenge will be invited by ROTAX Kart Center and its sponsors to the annual ‘ROTAX MAX GRAND FINALS’ in January. All travel expenses, accommodation and transport costs for the qualified drivers and their karts will be covered by the ROTAX Kart Center and it’s sponsors.

Although the ROTAX MAX Challenge sounds like a serious and professional event, the main target group we would like to attract are leisure kart pilots, people who like kart racing, without the technical risks of 100cc racing engines. The main reason for participating in the ROTAX MAX Challenge should be the pleasure of kart racing, without the intention of becoming a Formula 1 driver or spending more time in the pits than on the track and most of the money on unexpected engine repairs.

As a key factor for the success of the ROTAX MAX Challenge the rules of the ‘Technical Specification’ must be strictly controlled. One system which has proved successful is sealing the engines by an ‘Authorised ROTAX distributor’ or their ‘Authorised ROTAX Service Centers’, the only companies who are allowed to check the engines and reseal them. ROTAX will supply an engine ID card and special ROTAX seals.
